Event & Seminar

Goals

We introduced our company's efforts toward achieving the SDGs.

Twenty high school students from Minoh Jiyu Gakuen visited the Union showroom.
We explained our stance and policies on the SDGs, introduced specific initiatives, and value chain mapping.

A mini-game called 'Scrap Hunt' to deepen knowledge about metals and consider waste and recycling

We conducted an original game to help students understand why Union is committed to long-lasting products and what 'circular' manufacturing means. Just like removing labels from PET bottles for proper sorting and disposal, industrial products are also disassembled and sorted similarly.
Using unusual tools they had likely never seen before, the students first disassembled products. Then, in the 'Scrap Hunt' game, they were divided into teams to separate ten metal parts by material and compete based on how accurately they sorted them.
Through this game, we believe the students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of efforts towards achieving the SDGs. Additionally, the showroom provided many hints, allowing the students to observe weight, color, and shape, thereby enhancing their knowledge of metal materials

Corporate Efforts Toward Achieving the SDGs

Efforts to achieve the SDGs are crucial for the environment, society, and the economy, but finding solutions that positively improve all these aspects is not easy. Additionally, companies must protect the livelihoods of their employees and generate appropriate profits. Within this context, it is important to undertake initiatives that aim to reduce negative impacts as much as possible.
We hope this will be an opportunity for you to understand how each company is working on the SDGs in line with its own characteristics, philosophy, and system, and to recognize that these efforts require investment and that continuity is important.
