Goals

Participated in an idea meeting with middle school students

The 'Exciting and Thrilling SDGs Junior Forum 2023' organized by the Osaka Prefectural Board of Education. Our company attended idea meetings at Minami Junior High School in Osakasayama City and Matsubara Daini Junior High School in Matsubara City. We listened to presentations from each group, provided advice to deepen their ideas, conducted workshops, and introduced activities aimed at achieving the SDGs. This was a wonderful opportunity to recognize our responsibilities as a manufacturer and strengthen our connections with the local community.

Engagement with Educational Institutions

We also received feedback from the teachers and students. Before the classes, the teachers consulted with us, and we not only discussed the SDGs and the content of their presentations but also included information on what it means to work and the various types of jobs available. This aimed to help with their future career choices.

Going forward, our company will continue to focus on what we can offer to the children in our community and society as a manufacturer, while striving in our craftsmanship.

Teacher from Minami Junior High School in Osakasayama City:
"During our pre-class learning, we gained a lot of knowledge, and it was an opportunity to realistically understand the activities of actual companies. Additionally, I don't think the students had ever consciously thought about companies that make door handles. Learning about your work was beneficial for their career choices. Thank you very much."

Teacher from Matsubara Daini Junior High School in Matsubara City:
"For the students, a company making door handles is both familiar and distant. We were looking forward to hearing what you had to say. The word 'ARTWARE' left a strong impression. I was surprised by the emphasis on 'artistry' in a door handle company. The examples of product installations, such as in famous theme parks and cinemas, made us realize the daily efforts put into 'shaping the intangible.'
The phrases like 'overprocessing can obscure the material' and 'making recycling difficult' along with the videos of design and manufacturing processes were all new and highlighted UNION's high level of manufacturing technology. Your collaboration with university students and educational activities related to the SDGs resonated directly with the students' current learning. Moreover, the message 'experiences now will benefit your future' surely reached the students."

Students:
"While learning about your company's initiatives, I understood that you are also engaging in environmentally friendly efforts towards achieving the SDGs, working for the future. What stayed with me was that 'the experiences we have now will benefit us in the future.' Though I have many worries right now, I realized that 'now' will be useful in the future. I want to value continuity and hope to challenge myself in various ways.
